Atlanta is a big and active city, and this was where the Olympic Games were held in 1996. Apart from being a colourful city with lots of life and festivities, Atlanta offers many old cozy quarters with buildings several centuries old. Atlanta is also the birthplace of civil rights spokesman Martin Luther King.

In January they have the King Week, where the birthday of Martin Luther King is celebrated. The Antebellum Jubilee is in March, and the Midtown Music Fest is in May. In June is the Georgia Shakespeare Festival, and the Yellow Daisy Festival is in September.

There are good accommodation possibilities in Atlanta. There are certain parts of town with expensive, luxurious hotels and motels, and others with cheaper motels, guesthouses, B&B's and youth hostels. There are several camping sites in the area around Atlanta, too.

There is a well-developed bus route network in Atlanta, covering most of the city.
Taxi
There are many taxis in Atlanta. It can be quite hard to catch one in the street, though, and it is a good idea to book one on the phone, when you need a cab. All taxis use a taximeter.
